Experience one of the great, untamed regions of Africa: the spectacular Okavango Delta on foot. A bush walking activity will give you a taste of exploring this breathtakingly beautiful and diverse environment just as the original explorers, Selous and Livingstone did.
Walking in the wilderness is a ‘must’ for every true safari experience.
No special training is required as the focus is on exploration and discovery. Guests will gain an insight into the skills safari guides need – tracking fresh spoor to reveal the secrets of the bush. You will be in the hands of the best professional guides, whose passion is to interpret and teach you every aspect of life in the bush.
A walking safari allows for more than just a short bush walk activity. Guests will walk as a means to traveling, to cover various habitats within the Okavango Delta on foot. From its large islands to open floodplains, and skirting its deep swamps, guests are able to access areas that the safari vehicles cannot, and by doing so on foot are leaving no trace in the wilderness. Our walking safaris allow guests to explore more intimately and be completely absorbed by their natural surroundings; tracking elephant and buffalo herds for hours on end or even the elusive leopard.
Fly camps are set up along the way in impromptu wilderness areas. They are basic but very comfortable with excellent home cooking.
Each day the guests leave with the guide and tracker for a full morning of walking, tracking and game viewing. Lunch is under the shade of majestic, towering ebony and jackal-berry trees, followed by a well-deserved siesta. When it cools again the adventure continues towards the next fly camp where the friendly staff await with hot bucket showers and a cold beer.
